This, right here. This is the #1 thing in storytelling for me, a character gets hit with something, then brings it back later to solve a problem in an unexpected fashion. This kind of plot is absolutely narcotic to me, and it's half the reason I can never half-pay attention to any story - I can't risk missing the seemingly unimportant setup!

Back when I was doing Leftover Soup, I didn't call it this, but Jamie (and, to a lesser extent, Max) were absolutely doing what I now call "autistic problem solving". Take things literally, do what works, egalitarian, utilitarian, unconventional, hero shit.

And (spoiler) hero shit works.

Never seems to work for me, mind you, but this is my comic, and we're all entitled to a little escapism, aren't we?
